After arriving to Beijing around 7am, we quickly boarded the bus and headed to our next hotel, Sunworld. Everyone showered, ate some breakfast and met up in the lobby to head off to the Forbidden City. Tianamen Square and the Forbidden City were amazing. We walked through for about 2 1/2 hours and only got a small glimpse of everything. When you walked through each door, you were amazed at how much more there was to see. The hot spot for the day was the pearl market. At first, everyone was a little overwhelmed but it didn't take long for the group to begin making deals. The shops would allow you to pick the quality, size and strand of pearls and the type of clasp. Along with pearls, there were watches, bags, shoes, and everything else you can imagine. I think most of class VII now owns a "rolex." Last nights dinner was probably the favorite for the entire group so far. We had our usual spread of rice, chicken, pork, and such. Then we had the Peking Duck and some fried apples that were battered and dipped in caramel. It was a long day, but a great way to begin our travels in Beijing!
I hope all is well in Florida!
