NY Senate Bans Applying Pesticides to School Playing Fields

New York recently approved a measure to ban pesticides on school and day care playing fields, meaning grounds superintendents will have to begin using more organic ways to care for grass.
Many schools in the state use pesticides on athletic fields to kill bugs, pests and weeds. A number of scientific studies have shown that exposure to pesticides can increase children's risk for cancer, exacerbate asthma and trigger seizures.

Absolutely ridiculous once again. Guess how this would work in Florida with fire ants and sod destroying insect pests. I guess that pouring on the "green" solutions will be so much safer and so much better for the kids. Liquid manure is always nice to have them play in.

Anyone working with today's pesticides knows the ultra low concentrations, product chemisty, scientific testing, and registrant requirements for a labelled proper use equals miniscule possibilities of secondary exposures, if any at all. It is horrifying to watch the creep from common sense into liberal agenda and the continued effort at legislation based on opinion only with no scientific approach. While the taxpayers burdens grow and budgets remain in flux this type of agenda is promulgated.
